Industry NIne (Industry9, I9) rear hub: The pawls and ring in the freehub mechanism are made from A2 tool steel, a tough and strong alloy.
The six pawl design involves two sets of three pawls, with one or the other set of three pawls engaging the ring at any given time. With engagement points spaced a mere 3 degrees apart, the feeling is one of instantaneous engagement, comparable to the feeling I get with other high-end hubs. Each pawl has a ?heel? that rubs against the ring as the hub freewheels, which keeps the pawl?s teeth from contacting the ring. The heel feature reduces drag, wear and noise.
